Out-of-school children

 

Lubuto Libraries are uniquely positioned to serve out-of-school children—and give them access to vital information and resources, offer them programs and training to build life-changing skills and help them to enroll or re-enroll in school.

Library features that help give out-of-school children brighter futures include:

  • Comprehensive library collections covering a full range of topics

  • 700 computer-based reading lessons in Zambia’s seven main languages

  • Family literacy program that teaches young mothers English language skills while childcare is provided

  • Training and resources in technology and coding

  • Art, music and drama programs

  • Mentoring that introduces children to role models and teaches them about their rights

  • Programs for children with disabilities

  • Full scholarships for girls in secondary school
