Jennifer Lester served as Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department (CSF) of the International Monetary Fund from February 2020-October 2022, when she retired after 25 years of service to the organization. Jennifer spent most of her career in the IMF’s Legal Department, where she was appointed Assistant General Counsel in 2009 before moving to CSF in 2016 as Deputy Director. In her previous position as Assistant General Counsel, she headed the Legal Department’s Administrative Law Unit. Prior to joining the IMF, Jennifer was Legal Officer in the Legal Department of the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization and an Associate in private practice with the Washington, D.C. office of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton—and before that she was a Foreign Service Officer for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kingston, Jamaica and later Minister Counsellor at the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, DC. Jennifer received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, and holds a M.Sc. in International Relations, and a B.A. in Modern Languages both from the University of the West Indies.
