Tukiya Mbewe

Collection Development Librarian

After completing her studies in the UK and returning to Zambia, Tukiya started out as a volunteer with Lubuto in October 2016. Three months later, she was employed as a full-time Librarian at Lubuto’s first library. From a young age, Tukiya has had a strong desire to help and improve the lives of orphans and vulnerable children and youth. She has previous experience in public health and teaching, as well as administration, marketing, development consulting and hotel management. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies and a Master’s in Poverty and Development, both achieved in the UK. She believes working for Lubuto gives her a sustainable platform to interact with and improve the lives of vulnerable children and ensure their educational and literacy needs are being met through library programming. Currently she is working as LLP’s Collection Development Librarian.
