For the past several years, ABC Imaging has done a beautiful job of printing our annual report at cost, very generously discounting their price and allowing us to focus our resources on building our next Lubuto Library. They also gave us a generous discount to print beautiful invitations to our fundraising event with Danny Glover in April 2010.
Lubuto was one of 12 groups chosen from
several hundred applicants worldwide to be awarded a grant of nearly
US$30,000 from the eIFL Public Library Innovation Initiative, for
which eIFL received funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
to encourage innovation with information technology in public libraries.
The
International Monetary Fund Civics Program, IMF Helping Hands Program, and the
IMF Family Association have been partners and supporters of Lubuto since our inception. In fact, Lubuto was ‘born’ during a 3-year IMF posting in Zambia. The IMF’s staff and their families continue to give generously of their time and financial resources to make more Lubuto Libraries a reality. The IMF Civics Program has provided generous grants that have helped sustain our work for several years. And Anne Sinclair, wife of the IMF’s Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn, presented Lubuto with another generous gift from the IMF when she visited our first library in March, 2010.
Oprah’s
Angel Network recognized our rapid progress in bringing our vision to reality
in the first Lubuto Library by inviting us to submit a proposal, and subsequently
granting Lubuto $10,000 toward construction of our second library. We will continue
to do our best to sustain their confidence in our work and our mission.
Politics & Prose in Washington, DC, is one of the U.S.’s outstanding independent
booksellers, and its children’s department, headed by the legendary Jewell Stoddard, has
been an important friend, guide and generous supporter of Lubuto from the beginning.
We are very proud of their support and that our commitment to independent booksellers
has not only enabled us to maintain the highest quality standards for our collections,
but, in partnership with Dow Jones, to show that quality need not be sacrificed to
reach scale with our libraries.
St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Washington, DC Since 2004, St. Paul’s has very generously
allowed our volunteers to build and store Lubuto collections in the church hall. Pastors
Tom Omholt and Meredith Lovell have supported our work with kindness and love, one of
the many ways this congregation reaches out to its brothers and sisters in need.
SalesForce.com Foundation has
given Lubuto a very valuable grant of a license for
its internet-based software for tracking our donors.
UPrinting.com has made Lubuto a grateful beneficiary of UPrinting.com's UCommunity Program for non-profit organizations.
